Abstract
Smoking is one of the behaviors that cause effects such as heart disease to cancer. The high number of adolescents smokers needs to be prevented so as not to have an impact on their physical and psychological health. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the determinants of adolescent smoking behavior in Keerom District. Methods: The research design is analytic observational with a cross sectional approach. The study population was 633 students of SMKN 1 Keerom Regency with a total sample of 104 respondents. The sampling technique was stratified random sampling. The instrument in this study used a questionnaire. Analysis was performed univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. Results: The results of 104 respondents, as many as 64 people (61.5%) of them smoked. The chi-square test showed that there was a relationship between attitudes (p = 0.000) and adolescent smoking behavior, while the knowledge variable found no relationship (p = 0.157) with adolescent smoking behavior. Conclusion: Attitude was the factor that influence smoking behavior in adolescents in Keerom District
