Pengetahuan, Sikap, dan Tindakan Terkait Konsumsi Minuman Keras pada Remaja SMP di Kota Jayapura: A Descriptive Study

Abstract

Background: Alcohol consumption among adolescents represents a significant public health concern, with the potential to generate serious social and health consequences. The high availability of alcoholic beverages and the strong influence of social environments render adolescents particularly vulnerable to alcohol use behaviors, especially in Jayapura City. Objective: This study aimed to describe the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of junior high school adolescents regarding alcohol consumption in Jayapura City. Methods: This study employed a descriptive research design with a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 117 junior high school students selected through stratified random sampling. The study was conducted in 2024 across six junior high schools in Jayapura City. Results: The findings indicated that the majority of respondents demonstrated a good level of knowledge regarding alcohol consumption (52.14%). In the attitude domain, most respondents exhibited negative attitudes toward alcohol consumption (58.12%). Furthermore, in the practice domain, the majority of respondents fell into the category of safe practices related to alcohol consumption (61.54%). Conclusion: Most junior high school adolescents in Jayapura City exhibited adequate knowledge, negative attitudes, and relatively safe practices regarding alcohol consumption. Nevertheless, strengthened educational and preventive efforts remain essential to further reduce the potential for risky behaviors.
