Abstract

Diseases included in the ARI group are Pneumonia, Influenza, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). According to WHO there are 802,000 deaths due to ARI, especially pneumonia in the world, while Indonesia is in sixth place with a total mortality of 19,000 children under five. The highest incidence of ARI by province was in Papua at 12% and the lowest was in Bangka Belitung at 2.3% with the number of ARI deaths in children as much as 9.4%. The incidence of ARI in Jayapura Regency in 2022 is the first order of the top ten diseases with a total of 54,534 cases (37.7%) where the number of children under five is 32,433 cases (59.47%) of the total ARI cases. Purpose: Knowing the factors associated with ARI in toddlers in Sentani District. Methods: This part contain the research methods (3-5 sentences), Result: The type of research used is analytic with a case control design. The number of samples was 106 consisting of 53 cases and 53 controls which were taken using a proportion sampling technique. Data were obtained using a questionnaire and analyzed using the chi square test. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between the nutritional status of children  under five, exclusive breastfeeding, administration of vitamin A, and smoking habits at home with the incidence of ARI in children under five.
