Abstract
Background: Patient safety in hospitals is a healthcare system that ensures safer patient care. RSUP Dr.
Tadjuddin Chalid Makassar has a policy strategy for implementing patient safety standards. However, there
are still several cases that have the potential to endanger patients. The role of nurses as frontline healthcare
workers is crucial to the successful implementation of patient safety principles. Purpose: This study aims to
determine the relationship between nurses' knowledge and attitudes and the implementation of patient safety
at Dr. Tadjuddin Chalid General Hospital Makassar. Methods: This research is a quantitative study with a
cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of all nurses working in the inpatient ward, totaling 82
respondents. Data analysis was conducted using univariate and bivariate analyses with the chi-square test.
Results: The results showed a significant relationship between nurses' knowledge (p=0.004<α=0.05) and
nurses' attitudes (p=0.001<α=0.05) with the implementation of patient safety. Conclusion: Based on the
findings, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between nurses' knowledge and attitudes and the
implementation of patient safety at Dr. Tadjuddin Chalid General Hospital Makassar.
