Abstract

The increase in community activities is directly proportional to the increase in the volume of waste in Jayapura City. One of the efforts made to manage waste is through community empowerment with the existence of a Garbage Bank. Purpose: This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and the role of waste bank officers with the participation of housewives in the Waste Bank program in Yabansai Village, Jayapura City. Method: The research design used is Cross Sectional. The population is housewives, with a minimum sample size of 97 respondents. The data collection technique was carried out by accidental sampling using a questionnaire instrument. Data were analyzed by chi-square test and presented in tabular and narrative form. Results: This study found that 57.7% of respondents had a low level of participation in the waste bank program. The results of the analysis show that Ho is rejected in the relationship test of the three variables. There is a relationship between knowledge (p= 0.002), attitude (p= 0.021), and the role of officers (p= 0.000) with the participation of housewives in the waste bank program. Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and the role of officers with housewives participation and the waste bank program in Yabansai Village, Jayapura City.
